Oregon Trail Video
When the original pioneers left Independence, Missouri and traveled to Oregon City, Oregon they were hoping for a land with new opportunities and they wanted to be the first to discover new land. There were many hazards that they encountered. They had problems with weather and disease. But they also ran into many Native American Indians, some were friendly and some were not so friendly, these encounters sometimes led to trades made for goods and supplies. Another danger was the wild animals. When they would set up camp for the night they would have the risk of wild animals coming and taking there food of damaging there supplies. The biggest problem for them was all the diseases that effected the pioneers. The main one was Cholera which ended up killing nearly 2/3 of the pioneers in each wagon train. This disease was uncurable and killed the infected within hours of being infected.
