My group choose scenario 2.
Answer: We choose this scenario because we didn't want to have to turn around if there was a problem with the river. Also my train has a lot of children and they can more easily drown in the river so we wanted to ensure the safety of our families. We know that this route will take longer and use more supplies but we are more concerned with our families than anything else. This route is more dangerous because of our animals could get more tired or sick from the extra walking and we have a greater chance of running out of food and supplies as well with the extra ten hours of walking we will have to do.
